Position Available:
Systems Administrator - SelfDesign Learning Foundation

Position Purpose:
The Systems Administrator will use extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to maintain and enhance all network infrastructures at SelfDesign. This includes overseeing all servers, firewalls, and other equipment. The Systems Administrator also acts as Tier 3 IT Support when other tiers knowledge has been exhausted and also works with the Systems Administrator (DevOps) to plan, implement and administer organizational utilized applications. The Systems Administrator provides regular security analysis and reports, and regularly tests components of the infrastructure to ensure stability in the event of a disaster.

Candidate will have extensive contact with internal contractors, 3rd party suppliers, and in some cases external users of SelfDesign Systems.

The Systems Administrator works within the Information and Technology Department and directly reports to the Director of Information and Technology.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain the server and network infrastructure at SelfDesign including all servers, firewalls, and other equipment
Upgrade server components as newer technology becomes available
Implement new technology that benefits the employee, contractors and users of SelfDesign's systems
Provide support at the 3rd tier when required when referred by 1st and 2nd tier support representatives
Ensure that backups of all server organizational data are being performed daily while being encrypted
Rebuild servers and associated software components when necessary because of crash, or failure
Maintain a high level of uptime for all accessible services
Oversee Antivirus protection for all infrastructure
Administrate email server for internal and remote connections
Administer and maintain a disaster recovery location which includes essential file replication and remote access in the event of an emergency
Make technology recommendations of what hardware/software is needed at the server and contractor levels
Manage new/existing user accounts for network
Oversee the patch management process for all servers and software, regularly auditing the systems for threats
Develop, and regularly enact Disaster Recovery procedures of various degrees to ensure resources and infrastructure availability
Manage all IT related licensing contracts with our software vendors
Maintain Domain Name Services including registration and renewal
Create and maintain documentation pertaining to setup, maintenance and issues relating to technology administered
Establish and maintain protocol for ensuring network security
Determine and administer user access, privileges, and security
Perform annual compliance and security audits
Provide ongoing improvements and maintenance of enterprise security for the organization

Requirements:
Minimum 5 years as a System Administrator in a similar environment
Expert knowledge and skills in Linux OS and related Technologies
Solid understanding of networking and security
Experience with cloud services (AWS, etc)
Experience with Docker/LXC/Kubernetes and orchestration
Experience with Hypervisor Environments (Virtualbox, VMWare, KVM)
Experience with Revision Control Systems (Git, SVN)
Experience with Monitoring Tools (Zabbix, Nagios)
Experience with SQL Administration (MySQL, Postgresql, NoSQL)
Experience with Load Balancers (Nginx, HAProxy, Varnish)
Experience with network services (DNS, LDAP, SMTP, IMAP, XMPP)
Experience with Authentication mechanisms (CAS, Shibboleth, SAML)
Experience with VPNs (OpenVPN, IPSEC, Tinc)
Experience with writing SQL scripts
Experience with writing Shell Scripts (Bash, Python)
Understanding of automated deployment technology (Puppet, Ansible)
Experience with applications and tools we use for our daily operations (listed below)
Adaptability and flexibility
Excellent analysis and problem solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines and deal with multiple concurrent tasks
Possess the ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal direction

Working Conditions:
Remote working from home office. Minimal travel required. This contract requires at times 24/7 on call support in the event of failures.

Candidates must have access to a private workspace with reliable internet service.

Salary Range and Contract Duration:
Dependent upon education and experience. Please provide current salary range information. Duration of contract will be for a 1 year period and has the potential for annual renewal.
